2026 HDLC Activist Awards

March 26, 2026

The annual awards night is booked for June 25th at Marquis Gardens. Individual tickets will be $105 with a table of ten at $1050. The event is a fundraiser for the United Way and any proceeds above and beyond costs are forwarded to them with our annual donation.

Please consider making motions at your next local’s Council or GMM to purchase tickets and join us at the event. It isn’t often that we take the time to recognize the work that is done locally within our movement. We should always take the time to hold these moments and use them to share solidarity with those doing good work.

Our annual awards include: Lifetime Achievement, The Rose Macgowan Sisters in Solidarity Award, The Malcolm Buchanan Political Activism Award, Friend of Labour Award, Young Worker Award, WHSC Health and Safety Award.

We will have a live link for information surrounding nominations that can be downloaded, printed and submitted to Tom at secretary.hdlc@gmail.com, Anthony at amarco@rogers.com, or Gillian at gsurette-robinson@uwhh.ca. Please consider nominating equity seeking candidates when possible from your locals.

You can view the Award Categories and nomination requirements at the link here.

As always, there will be door prizes, music, food, and a 50/50. If your local has any swag to donate to some of our prize packages, please contact Gillian.

Also contact Gillian for ticket requests and for any questions around the event: gsurette-robinson@uwhh.ca.
